MPA on Gantry Functionality is Here

As user feature suggestions go, the ability to attach a mid-point anchor (MPA) to a gantry using Lineardraft has comfortably been one of the most popular.

Up until now, placing MPA on gantry arrangements was a completely manual process using the CAD application's functionality. Including this functionality in Lineardraft would ensure not only the graphics display accurately in 2D and 3D, but also ensure the information displayed in asset data and allocation reports is correct, and most importantly the design and model are kept up-to-date instantly whenever changes are made.

We're happy to announce that this functionality is here...

What We've Done

'MPA on Gantry' in Lineardraft has been a long time coming. Work started back in 2022, with focus on first bringing the engineering capability to the UKMS design catalogue.

Once we had a proof of concept we realised that with some further software changes, we could make the process both more intuitive and efficient. These changes required a rework to some of the core Lineardraft functionality, which was no small task!

Once these changes had been made, we were able to include MPA on Gantry functionality in the UKMS catalogue in Q1 of 2024, in time for some of our users to deliver projects which required this capability.

What's Next?

The ability to place a mid-point anchor a on gantry in Lineardraft is now live, with compatible arrangements in our UKMS, UKMS - SiCat, and Series 1 catalogues, with more arrangements on the way in more catalogues in the coming months.

Since this release, our team have now moved onto the new 'Direct Attachment to Gantry' functionality which we're very excited to share with you - more about this coming soon.

If you want to track the progress of any software feature or change request, visit our Software Roadmap, and click on a feature request card to view more information or submit a vote for the suggestion. If you submit a vote, not only does this help us decide what we should work on, but you will also be notified automatically whenever there are updates to the feature request card.
