On 26th March 2025, a new version of Lineardraft was released. It was the single biggest update the revolutionary overhead line electrification design software received since launch.
Along with a fresh new look that waved goodbye to its dated Windows 95 stylings, the main focus of the update was to streamline workflows, improve the efficiency and intuitiveness of the software, and enhance user feedback; all with the aim of providing a seamless design experience unlike anything else in the rail industry.
Accompanying the release was a completely refreshed Helpcentre, with how-to and explainer articles covering all functions in the updated software, so users were supported from the moment they clicked 'Install'.
As with every software update we do, we also shared release notes. However, these were a bit long to say the least. So in order to give everyone a detailed yet concise look at the new Lineardraft, we've created the video below so you can see what's changed and what's new.
This update is an evolution of Lineardraft, not an overhaul. The powerful functions and automation tools that have long allowed designers to focus on the critical tasks and not the simple have been enhanced with a clearer user interface, guidance, and feedback, giving users greater control and confidence.
Lineardraft is currently being used on upwards of 35 active projects, including HS2, the Transpennine Route Upgrade, and the Melbourne Southern Program Alliance to name a few, as well as being trusted by the likes of AECOM, Arup, Jacobs, Mott MacDonald, Network Rail, SPL Powerlines, Systra, and WSP.
