The Final Production Release of our 'MTM' and 'Australia - General' design catalogues has arrived.
Let's take a look at what's been released, what happens to these catalogues now, and what design ranges we're working on next.
What's Been Released
The 'MTM' catalogue is based on the Metro Trains Melbourne design range. The Lineardraft team obtained direct access to the approved drawing library, and worked with a contact at Arup Australia to discuss implementation, functionality, and address any potential sticking points, so we could deliver the most efficient and intuitive design experience possible.
Our team would like to thank all of our external contributors for their input and industry expertise on this project - your time and effort has been invaluable.
Whilst users have had access to the 'MTM' catalogue since last August to work on outline designs, the Final Production Release signals the arrival of SPS, brackets, and both catenary and auxiliary wire supports to the catalogue, allowing users to produce detailed designs.
'Australia - General' is something of a companion catalogue, containing steelwork based on Australian standards that can be used in any region of Australia. This is especially useful for regions that doesn't have much steelwork in their local design range, such as 'MTM'.
With a range of new projects starting in the region, these catalogues come at an ideal time for our Australian users, with some already committed to using Lineardraft with the new catalogues to deliver their work.
You can review the contents of both catalogues via Catalogue Explorer. Visit here for MTM, and here for Australia - General.
What Happens To 'Active' Catalogues?
As part of our standardised catalogue creation process (learn more about that here) the Final Production Release signals the end of production work on the catalogues. They are now classed as 'Active' and will be continuously maintained by the Lineardraft team.
This means catalogue change requests for new parts and item linkages can be submitted via our Helpcentre, and we will communicate any suggested additions and updates via our Catalogues Roadmap. The team will also handle any reported defects.
Even though our work on these catalogues is complete, the catalogues are never truly completed, constantly being updated and maintained to suit the needs of our users.
What Next?
With 'MTM' and 'Australia - General' out of the production phase and into ongoing maintenance, this leaves space for a new catalogue to enter production.
Our immediate focus is on a completely overhauled V360 catalogue based on SNCF's V360 design range, which is an integral part to the HS2 project; something many of our UK users have already been involved with.
Beyond that, we are always looking out for design ranges to develop into catalogues for Lineardraft. If you believe you are using one of those design ranges, get in touch via [email protected] and we can look at the viability of creating a design catalogue to benefit rail industry projects.
